everyone's on vacation?
my lectures were supposed to begin last monday but of the two lectures (one in the morning and one in the afternoon), both did not see a lecturer coming in. oh well. then, the noticeboard informed that tuesday's classes are canceled too. oh well. then, i have no lecture class on wednesday. oh well. then, i have to leave for vacation on thursday and friday which is when i will have class. not oh well. having said that, i guess the world has to wait until the end of the week before my next log. oh well.

la gourmet...
an interesting day to review food and literally, more food. have a look at this page of pictures showing a real-life sized car cake! only god knows who got diabetic from eating that golden syrup("petrol")-filled engine with all that licorice and chocolate... *mouth watering*
anyway, here's my selection of a recent menu... first, the lovely Vanilla Cuppacakes made with melc. (okay, i know this is turning more into a photography post instead of food, but check out the different lighting by just shielding the flash to bounce away.)

next, the also lovely ladies who baked the cupcakes (with double lighting photos)...

the two below are photoshopped request from melc. (please click to enlarge.)

and surprise, surprise! i managed to get photographs of the delicious pasta salad lunch too. the one in the container is the take-away for kenji (that i ended up eating.. oops!) while the one on the plate was *almost* how it looked like when i ate with melc.

like i said, its not wrong if you want a bite of the yummy photographs here (all taken by yours truly) just drop me an IOU note.

Solemn Days
Your presence has always
Never made me feel this way
I admit, I may have had
But not with you around.
With my eyes of bereft
That you aroused, today,
Is unlike any other times
Which never fail for smiles.
As I lay my eyes on you
I felt my heart wilt,
Shadowed by darkness
Encased in heartfelt ache.
Perhaps it was all due to
The shower of disappointment,
Perhaps my spirit was burning
And turning into mere ash.
The tears that froze my face;
The blood the froze in my veins;
The thoughts stopped my track
As your presence comes around.
this is a poem i wrote two years ago but just submitted it to a publishing house tonight to be compiled into a book with another two hundred-something poems by people around the world. (many have discontinued their persistence to advise me against doing so coz i dont get paid.) that may not be how i felt today, coz i definitely remember enjoying myself.
i made lunch of salad pasta or pasta salad at melc's place before we went to times square to have derek join us. he ate our medium-large sample for lunch there while a small sample was refrigerated for kenji. since we stopped by sungei wang plaza as well, i found a lot of places that will supply my gashapon fetish (as how derek had said)? i saw several of them that were supposed to be out of circulation between six to last month ago ie. mai hime-z figurines and school rumble chibi chara(cter/s) keychains. melc had to tell how i could stare at one of those vending machines for an hour without getting bored, and *snap* goes derek's hp cam while i was staring at a wall of gashapon line-ups. plus, he nearly choked me to cough up blood for *complimenting* him, in borders while i was checking out the manga section. (each manga on 15% discount with at least two purchases in a single receipt.)
anyway, i noticed how unfair those clothes boutiques were. (so what if it has been like that for ever? i'm speaking.) a fancy heavily-belted (for deco purposes) three-piece for men costs RM128, while a simple black (with white lace and half apron) gothloli dress costs RM488! now, how different is that?! btw, if i could be seen in anime form, i'd probably have starry eyes while i was in that shop coz i saw a somebody with typical visual-kei j-rocker hairdo (for no reason). all of a sudden, *crack* went my right sandal. it broke into two right after i was staring at a bakery (which later, i treated myself a chocolate waffle).
im broke but i still want to buy more gashapons. im having sore throat but i still eat chocolate and take cold drinks. i need another break.
destination: photoshoot pt2!
well, actually there wasn't an official part 1 but this is really the second shoot for my gashapon figurines. the first one saw the line up of tsuruya, mikuru and nagato of suzumiya haruhi no yuuutsu (SHNY) but i never had the photos uploaded or even edited. so, now that i have GSD gashapon collection, i decided to round them up for "part 2"!
the SOS-dan line up! a note to SHNY collectors: is there anyone wanting/willing to trade their haruhi (standard or non-standard) for a standard mikuru? (i meant the Bandai PVC gashapon.) from left: mikuru (non-standard), tsuruya (standard), nagato (non-standard). i have explained about them in memopad.co.nr, read "monitors... figures..." for reference. i only wanted haruhi.. Haruhi~~~!!! *total obsession for seifuku*
MIKURU~ help wanted. she will stay trapped in there until somebody pay (trade) me the ransom: HARUHI~! the above is a standard mikuru, so i don't mind if you trade me a standard haruhi (i absolutely don't mind the ponytail version haruhi though).
above is the group from GSD, minus lacus clyne because of two reasons. one, there were no more standing space. two, i actually forgotten to put her into the picture (literally) since she hadn't a partner to stand with. from far left, meer campbell, athrun, gilbert gwendal, taelia gladys, sting oakley and stella.
now this is lacus clyne. the only reason to start GSD collection... well, perhaps the second reason? the other reason would be meer and athrun, coz they both look so good standing next to each other! have a look:
all photographs were taken by yours truly, akiko, in wolf's studio (that's me, you half-wit). please do not steal the images! what in the world did "permission" came into existence for anyway?

BIG review!!!
sunday... if it hadn't been for melc again, we'd probably never got to what we did together for the first time at my place.. no, it wasn't anything scandalous! well, just a little gossiping before lunchtime isn't a crime. we started to get all the ingredients of the recipe that she brought to make Vanilla Cuppacakes, which i'd like to call them Spotted Vanilla Muffin (because i keep on accidentally calling it muffins until melc slipped her tongue once).
Vanilla Cuppacakes
1/2 tbsp soda
1 cup butter
1 cup milk
2 tbsp vanilla essence
2 cups sugar
4 cups all-purpose fine flour
4 eggs
-the instructions (you *might* find it in melc's xanga if i dont post it by tomorrow with photos)-
we took some photos while we were waiting for the third batch to bake and then, kenji popped up for the tasting and to join us for a movie (Take The Lead, starring Antonia Banderas!) at my place, too. melc took home half the cupcakes, which we managed to make 10 less than the three dozen serving suggestion.. but a note of warning: do not attempt to bake it without -my- instructions unless you are a certified sweet tooth.
my verdict: yummy! thank goodness i did not allow myself to pour more than one cup of sugar as the one-cup-of-sugar outcome was sweet enough. melc, although newly introduced to the mixer, had learnt a new skill: baking. (well, that's because she doesn't have an oven to practice baking.)
monday... darn! everyone is falling sick or something close. in last 24 hours i have received news that 6 persons were not feeling well namely, ysmokona, melc, kenji, stepadoo, kclee and yours truly. ysmokona was down with a fever when i last read her xanga on saturday night. melc had slight headache after she left home after our baking session. kenji had fever on sunday night. stepadoo caught the (monthly) flu (that she almost never manage to avoid). kclee had tummy ache, i guess from indigestion, on monday. as for me, i had a terrible headache at the beginning of sunday. it worsened after the baking session as my head felt like it was really about to split into two, and i was feeling the chills and warm-ish! (clear signs of fever, but i'm stronger to fight it off with tons of sleeping hours on monday.)
my verdict: you guys, GET WELL SOON!!!
today... it was the beginning of my orientation WEEK (they want us until sunday) at college, and both stepadoo and i managed to get around without looking too vain trying not to look like a freshie. (i had actually put on light pressed powder and lipgloss! and tied a neat high ponytail.) actually, i read Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Sweet 16 #16 recently and saw how they tried to fit in a new environment (also college). except that i did not drive into campus; instead, i took the Putra LRT and walked a bit further after we got down at.. the stop. (well, it couldn't have stopped in the campus even if it wanted to.)
anyway, i had chicken rice for lunch in the canteen and then proceeded to enter the great big hall (which at press time, i hove no idea what's it called). we received a goodie bag and a nice leaf ring notebook (my cover was gold; one other i noticed was red.. i wonder what other colours there were). around 3pm, i was separated from stepadoo as i was ushered to the lecture hall with other media studies students, about 30 of us. i met a handful of our seniors and it was also i who intoduced myself the longest. the nice thing was, although everyone embraced silence, i found there's a cosplayer from CF forum! im with TCC, but still.. i see a future ahead of us~
my verdict: i know college means study, can't friends mean cosplay? (just ONE please?) well, college is nice and all, except that i don't know to refer to it as "the college" or CC, Charcoal College. (don't blame Me. everyone tease me about the college that way.) or, you could think that i am actually lieing about college and i've just been hired to work in a cc, cyber cafe, and my entries today onwards are fiction. it's as good as it gets.

i cannot help to sigh...
i have always wanted to seek comfort from the very cliche "its so unfair!!!" but *sigh* it wouldn't change a thing to repeatedly chant it. btw, msn messenger is trying to irritate me by not allowing my to sign in tonight.. *whacks imaginary comp with harisen*
anyway, something irrelevant to report.. the other night when i was talking to najmi was the second last time i ever hear from anyone from the driving school. today would be the last i hear of the driving school (i hope) since i'm already in possession of my probationary license to drive. *sigh*
why all the sighing? if i don't say "its so unfair!" i have another line on my mind that would do just fine, "this is so disappointing." for one, i can tell when i'm going to start a new chapter in my life as if i were reading my life from a novel. for another, when i feel my spirit dwindling down the spiral, that is always when a new chapter would begin.
it is only logic that with three days left to college, a new chapter is bound to write itself. but will i have to see the current chapter end with a low note, as have always? will i wake up to a new chapter already tomorrow? (well, depends. see if melc poison me with extra icing intake or not on the next morning.)

today has to be wednesday!
i suppose it happens. when you lose track of time. i definitely knew today was the seventeenth but i still thought it was wednesday. today onwards, i shall not blog after midnight. (no, it did not confuse me..) i have an explanation but who would believe it? it'd probably pass off as an excuse...
anyway, i went bowling with kenji on both monday and yesterday; i was doing some reading on most of tuesday (najmi had stopped by for a late night chat). when i spoke to stepadoo this morning, then she woke me up. she reminded me that it's a thursday today and hope that i would recover soon. right.. my explanation is that, having not done anything productive on tuesday, my mind unconsciously was "away" for a day. the only reason i got the date right is that i have a paper blog to keep me straight. (i skipped one tuesday's entry in the paper blog too.) well, there you have it.
najmi, if you do call me tomorrow, its only a thursday okay. XP

luck still runs in me...
although it's a new day since it's now past midnight, but let's just take it that it's still 12 may? i had less than five hours of sleep before i got out of bed today. my mind was in a mess mess, so i did not study for my japanese test as i had much as planned, but studied while having lunch instead. naturally, i aced my japanese language test! may i add, with luck. minori and i wore black-and-white combination for the class photo. according to icls, the language school, im have now graduated from I2 or intermediate II level. thank you so much, kobayashi-sensei!
today is supposedly the 10th day before college but since its no longer a "day" i now have 9 days left to college. let's play with numbers for a while. by tonight, i have 10 gashapon figurines sharing one glass cabinet with my stack of manga magazines and a couple of harry potter novels. also, i have a zillion items to put away from my table.

...but its spring now!
aih.. no matter how many times melc tell me to get a blog i wont budge 500pixels close to the "create blog" button. along came one night when i clicked the button finally. (its not like you would believe it was possible to accidentally click on the button, sign in to gmail, name the blog, pick a template, do a little more clicking, and then get as far as this line..) and i was reading kclee's blog an hour ago...
anyway, i was actually born at the end of spring but it being june, i get the idea of summer all the time. but then, akiko is usually spelt with autumn kanji character.. so i'm a very mixed up one? what about winter you ask? the only part i like about winter is ice-skating and snow-watching. (its too cold to play with snow for me who grew up in a warm country.) anyway, that's the only reason to name the blog as such.
getting back to my life today, i repeated the driver's license test this morning. my, wouldn't you know it? i was the first to be called by 9am! (on my first test last month i was almost the last few ones who waited until 12pm.) this time, i passed! then the sms frenzy started... i was sending sms-es *whooshwhoosh* to a number of people who cares to reply. sorry kenji, i was sure i did send you an sms until you asked at noon. that's when the few guys teased najmi until he merajuk... i couldn't help but tease him a little too.
oh my, look at the time.. i need to go to bed, and pick up my japanese language textbook to study first thing in the morning since i have another test tomorrow.
