wrapping books again...

last fortnight, just a couple days before my final exam paper of the semester, i was getting bored of reading notes and decided to start wrapping some of my favourite books which i have left in the bookshelf unwrapped for around a year now.

among the titles you see here are Chobits (original japanese manga), the baby-sitters club, nancy drew (both series are the early prints, now rare), and a book each from Pseudonymous Bosch and Trenton Lee Stewart (who are authors of really interesting children's books). nope, nothing chic lit or intelligent literature from me.

i will always love children's books and collecting old (children's) books too.

Daiso scout shopping~

what the heck is scout shopping? shopping for other people. oh, i just made that up. there is no such term. but i do wish to be a paid shopper! give me your shopping list, pay me and get your hard-to-find things~

i have two items to feature from February (yes, i know i have not blogged for THAT long) stock in Daiso IOI mall:
mio akiyama pantsu bowl- er, i mean, blue-white striped porcelain kitchenware! this photo was taken when the stock was still new. if you go check out the real item now, you will probably see only half of the items you see in this photo left.

some people are obsessed with mio, eventhough it isnt all accurate. (coz these are swirls unlike mio stripe rice bowl.)

not suitable for all mio fans as you will be disappointed to find out that the bowls are sold out.

these colourful flower knit crochets (?) on the right are scouted for minori. these are all the four colours available from Daiso. hope you get to buy some for your knit-wares! the pink ones are cute~

april food theme: rainbow muffins!

the moment i saw this extremely colourful cupcake photograph (which i did not know what was it called), i set it as my desktop wallpaper (which is now lost due to pc being reformatted), and wished for one day that i will learn how to bake it. and, one fateful day i was browsing cupcake-baking videos on youtube, i stumbled upon the rainbow cupcake recipe - oh, joy!

this time, i did not pick up a new recipe, instead i used the tinkerbell cupcakes recipe (also found on youtube) combined with instructions for rainbow cupcakes.

home-made pancakes and banana bread pudding!

oh, no. i guess i am no god (nor good) at recipes from scratch. i googled for the most basic recipe for pancakes and this is what i achieved.

i waited nearly an eternity at the pan frying the pancakes on each side to get that smooth chocolatey brown, but it seems that i managed to achieve as much as prata or roti canai cousins.

march food theme: bento!

okay, actually i did not bake anything special this month so i decided to show the bentos i made last month up until first week of april. i used the blue double decker container i bought from Daiso~

apparently there is an art to making bentos. the simple rule is 4-3-2-1. that means 4 parts rice (carbohydrate), 3 parts protein (fish, tofu), 2 parts vegetables (vitamins and fibre?) and 1 part "treat" (dessert or something sweet or savory).

the first one here i prepared rolled egg omelet (decorated with animal theme picks) with rice and mixed veggies! after skipping out on making bento for a month, this was as far as my skill took me. haha~ as for the cute mini green bear container, it contained thousand island dressing that i poured over the mixed veggies.
