Comic Fiesta 2010

this year, CF was held in the Manhattan Ballroom (which is on the 14th floor) of Berjaya Times Square Hotel on 18-19 december. i went for both day1 and day2 and i return with photos - not too much, but a good number of them! XD

so allow me to separate my report into day1 and day2 here~

Animangaki 2010 - photostory

i shall keep text to a minimum and leave more space to share my photos from Animangaki!

i met up with the K-ON members in the changing room, fixed some wigs and makeup, and we were off to the hall. by noon, the hall was already super crowded but due to the size of the venue, we were still able to move in a group without losing each other or bumping/knocking/stepping/breaking into someone/armour/weapon/gown/wings.

after touring the doujin booths and hanging around to watch the stage activities, we had our lunch picnic in the female cosplayer's room, went to Hibiki Tokai Productions studio room for a photoshoot, and also laughed ourselves silly with an unguided tour in the Haunted House attraction. as the event continues, i stayed to watch cosplay performances while some have left. i also played WS at Little Akiba booth before i left for home.

it's sem break! day 22

happy mid-autumn festival~ it is sometimes shortened to "lantern festival" or "mooncake festival" etcetera. where do these people get their ideas. tsktsk. anyway, the actual festival was yesterday, but i was busy eating mooncake, so i am sharing the home-made snowskin mooncakes i mentioned here today.

these few were dotted to separate them from the ones with fillings mixed with kuaci seeds. yes, i wanted the plain filling all to myself. hahaha~ of course, i am only joking - you know that, right?

DaiCon Preparation Guide!

*SCREAMS* i bet you must have heard about DaiCon left and right; north, south, east, west. if not, then you may return under the stone where you came from.

it is official - there are THREE (3) days before the much awaited event. and who cares if i am not an associated blogger featured on the front homepage for DaiCon? i still have loyal readers and random visitors - thank you so much for your support!

only today, DaiCon website has been fully updated about many vital information. but what if you get information overload? no problem - allow me to guide you! XD


DaiCon Preparation Guide!

1. bookmark DaiCon's website - because it looks pwetty. oh and, do some clicking exercise (there are SO many pages to flip click). plus, after the event, i am sure you want to read the front page message "THANK YOU FOR COMING TO DAICON!" (even AFA08 did that.)

2. check event schedule - find out when are which activities you want to participate, and clear your planner for the day! if you are driving there, you may need to know how to get there and what is the visitor's pass for.

if you are going by public transport, you may catch the charter bus service (from Trader's Hotel to MMU Cyberjaya) or by rapidKL bus/train.

3. bring some lots of cash - because they won't use credit card. jeez. of course, you might want to do some shopping at the doujin booths and KKnM! this is the floor plan:

4. pack your bags+1 - casual visitors, cosplayers, and contestants alike: do remember to bring all your necessities (as cyberjaya is a tad far from your friendly neighbourhood anything), forms, CDs, art supply, modelling kit, and AWSM/ELITE tickets for Minorin! oh and, cameras, batteries, phones (to call for help when in case you get lost in Cyberjaya).

remember to bring a spare shirt (as the food stalls are outdoors, so you may get sweaty) and at least one extra bag (for chucking in everything in - you may be tired out by 6pm to arrange things neatly).

5. have fun at DaiCon - and meet me there! XD

We from Sunway University College's Anime Club would like to cordially invite you and your friends to join us in our power packed anime event, Sun-U AniManGaki 2009 that is going to be held in two weeks time; 27th-28th June 2009 in celebration of Japanese anime and its culture.

dont worry if you did not receive the email, the invitation is open to ALL! what you have to do is prepare RM8 per day entry, or RM5 if you are a cosplayer in costume, and send yourself to the venue between 10am-6am!

i was just wanting to remove the past events (in chronological order top to bottom) that have graced the whole first half of the year 2009 from the sidebar list, so i thought i had better place it somewhere else... for instance, here. XD

events that i have attended from the list above are:

1. march 15: SEALONLINE LAUNCH - cosplay: ryomou shimei (ikki tousen). but i have to say i was more of working instead of a visitor to the event, and my booth was passed to ywsmokona's members.
2. march 19-22: HGAF - cosplay: none. i have to say i was not very excited about this event. i only went to have a peek on friday, i never actually 'attended' the event.
3. march 21-22: ACGC - cosplay: tsubaki (soul eater). the reason that i was not at HGAF was because i paid full attention to ACGC instead. joined the cosplay competition with skypegasus and opened Unicornz booth as usual.
4. march 21: JRockのTamashii - cosplay: n/a. the other reason i did not have time for HGAF was because i also attended a j-rock music event on the same weekend! i was with minori and we drank this huge glass of alcohol. hahah~

apparently i have been attending events in march only so far in 2009; as for may and june, i'm afraid i have to say i wont be able to attend any events (especially because they are all on the weekends) as i will be working again. its been so long.

DaiCon @ EMiNA Roadshow

i went to 1Utama for daicon/emina roadshow on day2 (saturday), and guess what? i spent a lot of money. (so im broke again.) ;_;

for those who did not know, here are more details:

anyway, after meeting fellow cosplayers (potter, wedraven, yuan, cheryl, yumi, sakurai, dxhikaru, beatbox, azreal, sweepingbutler, shawnkazu, andrew, wen) and EMiNA crew (fazri, ganesh, kurogane, pauline, and a few more) and picked up a free Fruits Basket poster (YAY!) and RM5 voucher from animetech, clow and i stopped at comic paradise (OMG they still sell Death Note BM manga!), animetech (but did not spend the RM5 voucher), action city (their outlet that sells outdated re-ment, which is a good thing!), pasta zanmai (expensive desserts), and pay less books (50% discount on top of already cheap books!) before heading home.

[prepost] saturday - AFA08 Day 1 photos

hah. gotcha.

well, not really. but you are reading this because it was pre-written on 13nov. so, i am particularly sad that i still cannot upload the photos i have taken today (assuming my big head remembered to get fresh batteries and more importantly, bring the camera along). this also means that i cant tell you if i got lost at the MRT, had a misunderstanding at the AFA ticket counter, bumped into some great cosplayers, met up a lot of people who bore familiar faces, really tired, got other people to buy me lunches and dinner, kicked motr's friends who he might be meeting, and got back to william's rather tired tonight.

they may be true but they are not a fact, no, not yet. coz now, at time of post (not press time) i am tired and my mind is wondering between memories and sleep.

tomorrow is already my last day in singapore - its too quick! where did all the time fly to?

oops, gotta stop blogging - have to pack up for AFA day 2 (and home). do not be fooled, i am posting in future p-o-v. i'll take it as a compliment if you think its believable! XD

[prepost] saturday - AFA08 Day 1

status: in singapore @ cousin william's home~ (will be leaving for AFA soon!)

as you have expected, this is the ever reliable blogger auto-publish. aint it way more trusty than having me post one by one? if i said it was going to publish today, it gets published today.


how to go to AFA08?
by public transport: ride along the MRT line to City Hall, walk underground the City Link Mall which ends up in the Suntec Convention and Exhibition Centre. four floors up, you arrive at the entrance of halls 403-404 which welcomes visitors to Anime Festival Asia.

the throng of people i expected to see are: cosplayers, arcade and console gamers, children and parents, Shonen Jump fans (Death Note!), STUDIO 4°C fans, kunio okawara and gundam fans, ichirou mizuki fans and "VIP fans" (those who have the not-yet-released VIP seats to his mini-concert later of the evening), and did i mention cosplayers? lets hope i have not forgotten anyone.

motr and i will be going to suntec together in a short while from this post. the hall opens at 10am, but you can purchase your pre-registered tickets starting 9am. but for me, i will be claiming my ticket at the cosplayer's counter as i have registered for the cosplayer entrance fee waive (free!) by 7nov.

i hope to see a lotta things and take loads of photos, or as many as my batteries will allow. (i have to save up for day 2 too!) oh, yes of course, my cosplay. i was hoping to group up with the singapore team (with deidara and stardust) but apparently the singapore members have taken up other characters for AFA08. well, i'll drop a couple hints on my character:

1. same character for CF08 day 1, but manga version
2. blonde as picture below:

truthfully, i have registered for two characters but i am only revealing one (the aforementioned is for AFA08 day 1) as i may choose not to cosplay the second character, due to baggage weight limit at the airport.

ACGC 08 Finale Schedule for two days~

ACGC Finale - day 1

sept 27: ACGC Finale @ MID VALLEY convention hall 3 (10am-9pm)

too bad it was still the fasting month of ramadan when the weekend arrived for acgc. time waits for no man; the show must go on!

the start line: the event hall at the beginning was rather confusing, suffice to say that the entrance welcomed visitors with two large overhead banners. i turned left into hall 3, and was swamped with promoters (two gothic meidos) and scattered acgc visitors. the crowd begin to build as the minutes fly but i'd still say the turn up was not keeping the hall 'hot' enough. D:

the venue: front half (and more) of the hall showcased booths for all sort of games; be they mmorpg, nintendo wii or DS. the anime/manga section was practically only anime.tech booth, while doujin area was all the way at the end of the hall - in an oddly positive sense, you cant possibly miss it. (lest you walked straight through the wall!) there were about a dozen doujin booths up and running, and i got the opportunity to share booth #01 with ywsmokona~ sales was slow but managed to rake up average.

the anime/manga/games area: as the acgc finale website has announced the schedule for day 1 leaned more towards the artsy side of ACG, we (me and artists and fans) were disappointed and horrified to find out:

- NO manga drawing competition (scheduled for 12noon) - cancelled due to lack of participants!

- NO guest artist ben was not present for autograph session (scheduled for 3pm)! (but there was rumour that kid-chan was around - at least!)

- NO artsy activities except for doujinka sketching at their respective booths (all day).

so other than taking orders for headdress, chatting up with friends and cosplayers alike (kilmenyanne, miko and friend, megami tensei, motr, yori, tekong, aoshi, stardust, guest18, and a bunch of /as/), i had takeaway carl's jr for lunch (normal chicken sandwich is normal D:) and took my break from the booth to shoot some photos as these below:

no, its not normal to see this at ACG events, to me. but the family colour-coding is a catchy trend. (yucks!)

if photos are anything to go by to reflect how well day 1 was, well.. i cant say it was particularly exciting other than the games booth where sean and i earned myself a few game starter cds, leaf-ring notebook and inflated panda staffs! i think after three-quarters of a year visiting event, i may actually feel tired to attend those less happening events.

ACGC Finale - day 2
sept 28: ACGC Finale @ MID VALLEY convention hall 3 (10am-9pm)

today was an improvement compared to day 1, but then the more people, the more hectic!

the main attraction for today was of course the ACGC Cosplay Competition, which attracted eight teams to participate - when they had prepared prizes for ten, and thats counting consolation only! anyway, if there are no competition photos from me, obviously i was not watching and stayed at my doujin booth area. here are some random cosplays of the day:

gintama sure know where to make an appearance - even with the akatsuki team!

nice costume, poor portrayal (its a game character afterall, just being yourself is nothing extraordinary).

hansel and gretel (black lagoon): this i like!

sweet lolita aiko-chan: much loved for the day.

maka alban and simca: mintos and me, bidding farewell for the day~

also, allow me to add:
- NO such thing as doujin games competition (scheduled for 6pm).

all in all, i hate to say it but acgc has organised three events throughout the year in peninsula malaysia, yet there still were the same mistakes that doesnt seem to be fixed nor show any improvement, other than the doujin booth and a nice rest area in front of the doujin booths. when i wanted to flag down authorized help, either i was blind (well, without my glasses i was but) or nobody seem to bother placing a staff to watch over the inner half (nearer to the doujin area) in case of mayhem. plainclothes security my foot.

on the other hand, how can i resist to post some of my own cosplay? comin' at you>>>

right now, i am suffering from what you may call as Comic-Fiesta-forum-withdrawal symptom. i have finally reached a dead-end and pulled out all my remaining hair in frustration, for not being able to access CF forum. (i am done with /as/ forum too, since i only follow a couple acg-related threads.)

according to my guess, CF forum is pretty busy now (bandwidth overload?) because everyone is flooding it to find out the details for CF 2008. well, here's the scoop if you are not able to get into the forum (since i already know it 24hours ago):
