Fuuvi Biscuit Camera

after losing my mobile phone in January due to an unfortunate event, i vowed to get a new one - at first. after calculating the costs and expenditures in, i realised i could only make do with the most basic. but that does not mean i have to feel sorry for myself.

i am currently using an old phone from mizuiro. as much as i hate this brand of phones because the interface is totally whack, at least it does not lag like most of my girly friends who uses the cute pink clamshell types and the likes. it is so basic, the most advanced thing about it is the Bluetooth feature. no camera, no USB/audio jack; just a plain colour phone.

you probably noticed my failure to keep my blog updated during the past couple months after i lost my phone. i really needed a camera, and i wanted the cute Fuuvi Biscuit Camera i found on Chocomint last year - but it was sold out then. thank goodness for HibikiTokai's facebook album where he linked theclickshop, leading me to find that they do sell Fuuvi Biscuit Camera - of course, i bought one!

Comic Fiesta 2010

this year, CF was held in the Manhattan Ballroom (which is on the 14th floor) of Berjaya Times Square Hotel on 18-19 december. i went for both day1 and day2 and i return with photos - not too much, but a good number of them! XD

so allow me to separate my report into day1 and day2 here~

WARNING: image heavy! (well, that is unavoidable and almost predictable, isn't it?)

Animangaki 2010 - photostory

i shall keep text to a minimum and leave more space to share my photos from Animangaki!

i met up with the K-ON members in the changing room, fixed some wigs and makeup, and we were off to the hall. by noon, the hall was already super crowded but due to the size of the venue, we were still able to move in a group without losing each other or bumping/knocking/stepping/breaking into someone/armour/weapon/gown/wings.

after touring the doujin booths and hanging around to watch the stage activities, we had our lunch picnic in the female cosplayer's room, went to Hibiki Tokai Productions studio room for a photoshoot, and also laughed ourselves silly with an unguided tour in the Haunted House attraction. as the event continues, i stayed to watch cosplay performances while some have left. i also played WS at Little Akiba booth before i left for home.

sorry for the tl;dr text - i promise there will be only photos ahead!

january food theme - cupcakes & cake!

a fortnight ago, melc and i were baking some fairy cupcakes and a fairy cake at my place. the recipe is fairly simple (search "tinkerbell cupcake" in Youtube) and, so basic that you can modify the recipe to your liking as you experiment with time according to your preference.

but most of all, our mission was to learn how to decorate using marshmallow fondant~ it was one of those recipes i read up from Hugbear's Baking Mum blog. here are our results!

hi mel! bye mel! (lots of photos after the jump!)

the past fortnight, MelC took her time off to return for a stay in malaysia - mostly, to makan i think (since she went home with so many Maggi mee packets).hahaha~

anyway, i hope you had lots of fun and took back good memories to the states until next time, MelC! i managed to take a few days to kidnap her away with friends to hang out in the fortnight that was.

the Gardens: one of the places we went!

christmas bento!

well, i know it is really late or way too early for christmas, but since i was in the mood to make a christmas themed bento, i packed this away for lunch (the day after i made the bear bento) to class.

i wonder when will i make the next one! i have yet to make the Orange-kun bento~

december food theme - cookies!

okay, it was not an official monthly rule from anywhere. i just thought that it would be a propriate to bake some cookies for the last christmas~

on the eve of christmas, i return home and the house was silent but i could smell hot charcoal from my neighbour's brand new red medium-sized barbeque pit. feeling alone without the presence of a good tv movie to watch, i saw a cookie-baking recipe book misplaced on the hall table. i quickly flipped through, and vowed to bake the simplest recipe i could find in the book!

november food theme - cheesecake!

one day, zend sent me a photo of his double Oreo cheesecake. the next thing i know, i want to make one too!

i went online to find a good simple recipe which contains ingredients which are familiar to me, and i found it at Hugbear's Baking Mum blog. in fact, it was a non-bake Oreo cheesecake! how cool is that? *happy*
it took a while before i gathered the ingredients, with mummy sponsoring me, here are photos as results from my very own Oreo cheesecakes! yes, plural - coz i made a square one due to too much cheese filling. lol.

The Library @ eCurve Damansara

so, lets start with the most recent place that i was eating at - The Library. it is located in eCurve (previously known as Cineleisure) replacing some ronery bar/club that was previously in the same lot. location proved to not be the cause of the ex-shop lack of business, as The Library manages to rake in full house 3-4 days a week. (or so i was informed.)

from what i heard, this place has been open for a couple months now, and the menu changes every fortnight - and lucky me (together with kilmenyanne, psychoe, spanky) coz we were there on the first day of a new menu!

a series of food reviews!

be prepared! your hunger will strike! your mouth will water! and you will want more!

since i have been skipping ACG event on and off recently, allow me to write up a few separate food reviews to merasuah you all to quit complaining why i am not updating. hahaha~

first post of the day: my cooking skill! it has improved and i find cooking a fun thing to do - and i am especially happy when people like my home-cooked items. let's start with the most recent one:

cheesy baked potato boats with sausage coins - (i should call it "pirate ship & the buried treasure"!) the secret in this recipe is stabbing your potatoes before baking, and using a LOT of cheese in the second bake! (it takes 2 hours of preparation and baking time, so it is definitely delicious!)

stabbing the potatoes is said to allow steam to escape from the potato while it is baking so that you get yummy crispy skin! i am guessing the steam trapped inside the potatoes will make the skin soggy or less crispy to eat.

my first Bodyline Japan purchases!

my first Bodyline purchase was also my first purchase using Paypal~ it was a sort of celebratory reward for my first Nuffnang cheque and my first domain too!

minori and i shared the first order that i made at Bodyline in August, and DHL was so efficient that they actually arrived one day before the scheduled time! however, that caused me to miss the first shipment because it was not expected so soon.

my first eBay purchases!

since i am always hyping myself up whenever i see my blog ranking goes up, i am now blogging something randomly because i noticed my Alexa rank in Malaysa has gone back up to the 10,000 (ten thousands). as of press time (haha~), akikowolf.com ranking globally is in the 2.4mil range. *happy dance*

so here are my first purchases from eBay in september!

firstly, Clannad first grade badge! actually i bought this for a friend, so it doesnt really count as mine. (what an evil friend of me - use my friend's money as test run. haha~)

Daiso @ IOI mall - snacks and drinks!

over the last weekend, i was at IOI mall, so i decided to take a quick browse at Daiso for what new japanese-imported stuff they might have stocked for my eyes, wallet, and now... stomach. XD

located just before the cashier counters, there are four to five shelf-sides that are loaded with goodies that some of you may have been waiting for since going to Daiso outlets in other countries (i.e. singapore) where they have snacks and drinks.

i skipped the first shelf (clearly visible at Daiso IOI mall outlet entrance) as it was a small side that had stuff like instant noodles. plus, i dont want to be a traffic hazard at the entrance on a weekend!

junk food galore: a variety of potato chips, crackers, biscuits/cookies, and candies!

mostly drinks (bottles/cans) with fruity jelly, gum and marshmallows~

instant pre-ready jelly/pudding/yogurt(?), and crackers of sorts.

now i really want to spoil myself with all the yummies and review how they tasted, but i'll probably leave it to somebody with better taste buds than me. (i am not a junk foodie.) i'll probably treat myself with drinks and instant noodles (and perhaps marshmallows) the next time i give Daiso a visit.

if you liked this post, nang me here!

God Knows

this is the original japanese song which has an english version that i performed as Haruhi Suzumiya in bunny suit at DaiCon. very meaningful lyrics, so do listen to the real song by Aya Hirano. <3

i thought i'd share it here since i still have not publish a few blog updates which are still in draft. orz. so, here is a teaser!

"God Knows" Lyrics

kawaita kokoro de kakenukeru
gomen ne nani mo dekinakute
itami wo wakachiau koto sae
anata wa yurushite kurenai
I run past you with a thirsty heart.
Sorry, I couldn't do anything-
you won't even let us
share our pain with each other.

muku ni ikiru tame ni furimukazu
senaka mukete satteshimau
on the lonely rail
In order to live purely
I face your back and leave without turning back.
on the lonely rail

watashi tsuiteiku yo
donna tsurai sekai no yami no naka de sae
kitto anata wa kagayaite
koeru mirai no hate
yowasa yue ni tamashii kowasarenu you ni
my way kasanaru yo
ima futari ni God bless...
I'll follow you.
No matter where you are in the darkness of this bitter world
you will shine,
and exceed the limits of the future.
To prevent your spirit from being broken because of your weakness
you converge with my way.
Now, God bless us...

todokete atsuku naru omoi wa
genjitsu tokashite samayou
aitai kimochi ni riyuu wa nai
anata e afuredasu Lovin' you
I send my now passionate feelings-
they melt reality, then just hover there suspended.
There's no reason for me wanting to see you.
I pour my feelings into you, lovin' you

semete utsukushii yume dake wo
egakinagara oikakeyou
for your lonely heart
Let's at least imagine only beautiful dreams,
as we chase after them
for your lonely heart

yamete uso wa anata rashikunai yo
me wo mite kore kara no koto wo hanasou
watashi kakugo shiteru
kurai mirai datte
tsuyoku natte unmei kaerareru kamo ne
my wish kanaetai noni
subete wa God knows...
Stop it, lying isn't like you.
Look into my eyes and let's speak of what will be.
I'm prepared-
even for a bleak future.
Become strong and you might even be able to change fate, you know.
Though I want my wish to be granted,
God knows everything...

anata ga ite watashi ga ite
hoka no hito wa kieteshimatta
awai yume no utsukushisa wo egakinagara
kizuato nazoru
You're here, and I'm here-
all the others have disappeared.
By sketching the beauty of our fleeting dream,
we're just tracing our scars

dakara watashi tsuiteiku yo
donna tsurai sekai no yami no naka de sae
kitto anata wa kagayaite
koeru mirai no hate
yowasa yue ni tamashii kowasarenu you ni
my way kasanaru yo
ima futari ni God bless...
So, I'll follow you.
No matter where you are in the darkness of this bitter world
you will shine,
and exceed the limits of the future.
To prevent your spirit from being broken because of your weakness
you converge with my way.
Now, God bless us...

Note: original song by Aya Hirano (Haruhi Suzumiya), translated lyrics from animelyrics.com. akiko (yours truly) did not edit the translation this time.

Re-ment Lovely Chocolate

for a while now, i have gotten hooked on re-ment figures, and finally started collecting them! so first of all, i started with the Lovely Chocolate series from the Puchi Petite Collections~ *heart* re-ment, like gashapon, items are random and you will not know which set you are getting until you open it. but unlike gashapon, re-ment allows picky people like me, to control their luck! (hahah~) each set is sealed in a box, and that means you can shake and squeeze, and judge the weight and how many moving parts in there!

anyway, the first two sets were randomly bought from Action City (hobby shop) in 1Utama after DaiCon/EMiNA Roadshow recently. they were the Nostalgia Chocolates and Truffle Bears (as you can see, both are boxed - thinking that it was what i wanted).

Re-ment Lovely Chocolate: Truffle Bears

Re-ment Lovely Chocolate: Nostalgia Chocolates

but of course, my first choice was definately the Jewelry Box Chocolates! i had been so intent on getting my first choice, that i was willing to fork out RM110 to buy the FULL SET of ten, but kept holding back (thanks to financial restraints).

then guess what? recently when i went back to Action City in The Gardens, where i first saw the Lovely Chocolate series, it has been restocked up to around eight boxes! so of course i bought the one with a very fat box, which obviously MUST be what i wanted and true to my luck - i pried it open and i found the Jewelry Box Chocolates!

Re-ment Lovely Chocolate: Jewelry Box Chocolates

i am so happy i could die. but wait, i still have more things to buy! XD (i'll take actual photos of my re-ment collection next week~)
